HTS code lookup for US imports (and how it connects to HS)
US imports are classified with 10-digit HTS codes under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. The first six digits follow the international HS; additional digits capture US-specific duty, statistical, and trade-remedy lines.
When you need HTS vs Schedule B
Use HTS for imports into the United States. For exports, Census reporting typically uses Schedule B codes; they share the same HS-6 core but can differ at the full national digit level.
